"Riga Hockey Cup" in cooperation with the Canadian Embassy in Latvia and Overspeed hockey can do great things! Every year we try to improve the Riga Hockey Cup X OverSpeed Hockey camp, but this year we have even surpassed ourselves! This year we welcomed 84 children to the camp, and what was new this year, – including 29 girls. Yes, this year we dedicated the last day of the camp especially to the young, promising and talented girls who started their way in hockey very recently, but we hope and wish that the girls also enjoy this sport and they too will succeed in achieving high goals. We truly hope that now we are also part of their achievements.

On Friday we met with 31 hockey coaches from different countries to learn together from the best - Toby O'Brien, Artūrs Irbe, Jill Plandowski, Matt Bertani and Jussi Kari-Koskinen. The sports director of the Latvian Hockey Federation, Edgars Buncis, and the Canadian ambassador to Latvia, Brian Szwarc, honored us with their presence and shared inspiring words. Before the coaching seminar, the ambassador had invited to a meeting in an informal atmosphere the Director of the Sports Department of the Ministry of Education and Science, Vladimirs Šteinbergs, the Cultural Attaché of the US Embassy, Mr. Cale Wagner, the General Manager of the Riga Hockey Cup, Jānis Jansons, the General Secretary of the Latvian Hockey Federation, Roberts Pļāvējs, the member of the IIHF Council, Viesturs Koziols, "OverSpeed Hockey" director Toby O'Brien and coache Jill Plandowski from Canada, hockey legend Artūrs Irbe, to discuss opportunities to promote Latvian-Canada-US cooperation in the field of youth hockey development and education in Latvia, which would include improving the skills of young hockey players, as well as coaches and referees.

May we all succeed in reaching high peaks together!
