Balcia and Riga Hockey Cup Announce Partnership

Balcia insures 6,000 young hockey players at the Riga Hockey Cup Tournament

For the first time, the participants of the largest European children's and youth hockey tournament, Riga Hockey Cup, will be provided with accident insurance, offered by insurance technology company Balcia Insurance SE. All 6,000 participants from 24 countries will be covered by Balcia JUNIOR accident insurance, which will be valid during the tournament from April 3 to May 3.

🤝 The establishment of the partnership with Balcia marks an important step in the development of the Riga Hockey Cup, by setting a new quality standard for youth hockey tournaments. By guaranteeing accident insurance, all participants and their parents are covered with an additional sense of security and financial support if health problems arise as a result of a risk.

“Children’s safety is our top priority in the tournament. At the same time, it must be acknowledged that there is always a risk of injury in sport, especially in competitive conditions, where each player tries to prove themselves from the best side. With Balcia’s support, we are creating a unique approach to children’s and youth hockey tournaments in Europe, strengthening the safety aspect and caring for the participants. Together with the referees and medical team, we can both ensure a safe tournament, as well as analyze the dynamics of the game and monitor the behavior of the participants on the rink. With our experience and Balcia as a tournament partner, we can together educate and promote understanding among children and youth about safe and responsible hockey,” explains Jānis Jansons, General Manager of Riga Hockey Cup.

Balcia JUNIOR accident insurance ensures the payment of insurance compensation if an injury is sustained, medical and hospital expenses are incurred, or disability occurs while participating in training and competitions.

"As a lifestyle insurer, we advocate for children and young people, for whom sport teaches perseverance, team spirit, and willpower, to develop their potential in a safe and supportive environment. We want children to be able to focus on the game, not the risks. That is why we are truly thrilled and proud to be part of the Riga Hockey Cup, supporting the participants themselves and providing additional confidence to parents that their children are protected. With Balcia JUNIOR insurance, we not only guarantee financial support in unforeseen situations, but also strengthen the overall safety culture in youth sports and inspire the next generation to confidently strive for their goals," emphasizes Reinis Bērzkalns, Vice President of Balcia.
